Introduction to Designer Laser Vaginoplasty® (DLV®)

DLV® is not just a single procedure, but a series of cosmetic surgical solutions
addressing specific aesthetic concerns of the vulvar structures. These procedures,
pioneered by Dr. Matlock, are a result of understanding women’s concerns about
changes to their vulvar structures due to natural aging, childbirth, and more.

Dr. Matlock believes in empowering women with knowledge and choices to aesthetically
alter or enhance their vulvar structures.

The DLV® Procedures: Tailored to Your Needs

DLV® includes multiple surgical options, each designed to fulfill your unique goals. These are not temporary spa treatments, but true surgical solutions with long-lasting results. Key features common to all DLV® surgical procedures include:

  • High patient satisfaction

During your personal consultation with Dr. Matlock, your specific aesthetic concerns, goals, and medical history will be discussed to develop a tailored DLV® surgical plan.

DLV® Procedures: An Overview

1. Laser Reduction Labiaplasty of the Labia Minora, with Reduction of Excess Prepuce: This procedure addresses concerns about elongated, sagging, protruding labia minora and excess skin on the sides of the clitoris.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a good candidate for Designer Laser Vaginoplasty®?

Good candidates for DLV® procedures are women who are in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the outcomes of the procedures. They may be dissatisfied with the appearance of their vulvar area due to genetics, aging, childbirth, or other factors.

It is important for candidates to have a thorough consultation with a qualified and experienced Female Genital Cosmetic Surgeon who can evaluate their individual needs, goals, and provide personalized recommendations based on their unique anatomy and medical history.

It is also important to understand the potential risks and complications associated with DLV®, and to follow the pre-and post-operative instructions provided by the surgeon to ensure optimal results and a smooth recovery. If you are ready to aesthetically enhance the appearance of your intimate area, know that you are in expert hands as Dr. Matlock is world-renowned for pioneering and perfecting DLV®.

What are the results of this procedure?

The specific results of Designer Laser Vaginoplasty® (DLV®) procedures depend on the type of procedure performed, as each is designed to address specific aesthetic concerns related to the vulvar structures. In general, DLV® procedures can help restore a more youthful appearance and improve confidence for women who have experienced changes due to aging, childbirth, weight loss/gain, and other factors.

For example, laser reduction labiaplasty procedures can reduce excess tissue and reshape the labia minora or majora to achieve a more symmetrical or aesthetically pleasing appearance. Liposculpturing of the fatty mons pubis and the labia majora can reduce the amount of fat in these areas to create a more defined contour. Labia majora augmentation via fat transfer or fillers can add volume to this area to create a fuller and more youthful appearance. A suprapubic lift can rejuvenate the entire vulva (much like a facelift).

Overall, the goal of DLV® procedures are to provide women with a more youthful, aesthetically pleasing appearance that can enhance their confidence and self-esteem. However, it’s important to note that each patient’s experience and results may vary, and it’s essential to consult with a qualified surgeon to discuss specific goals and expectations for the procedure

Although each DLV® surgical procedure is different, they do have some key features in common:

  • All are relatively short procedures that can provide impressive results.
  • All are performed as outpatient surgery, so you can go home the same day.
  • We will offer your choice of anesthesia, in consultation with Dr. Matlock–local, local with IV sedation, twilight, or general. Nearly all patients request general anesthesia. Special intraoperative injections are provided so that the patient is pain free for the first 18-24 hours.
  • All surgical procedures have some risks, however the risk from DLV® are less than 1%.
  • Patients repeatedly tell us they love their new look.

Recovery, like surgery itself, is an individual process. Nonetheless, there are certain things all our DLV® patients can expect:

Intraoperatively, you will be given a special injection so that you will be pain free for the first 18-24 hours. After which, you will receive pain medication to control any discomfort that you may have. The medications you receive will effectively control any discomfort.

You may also apply ice to the vulvar areas and perineum for the first 48 hours to minimize swelling, with 20 minutes on and then 20 minutes off. You will have to abstain from sexual activity for six weeks.

No exercise for six weeks. This includes stretching, spinning/cycling, Pilates, yoga or weightlifting.

No tub baths or jacuzzi for six week.

After six weeks, you will be able to resume all physical and sexual activities. Naturally, if your operation includes additional cosmetic surgical procedures, the details of your post-operative care instructions will reflect that.
